The Sky Pet Games Play strongly recommends attaching an electronic chip to cats as well, but entry into the U.S. is allowed for cats that do not carry an identification tag / electronic chip

Medical certificates -
As with any destination country, the US has a list of requirements to approve your pet’s entry into its lands.
A comprehensive medical examination is mandatory for all animals up to 10 days from the date of arrival in the United States.
